Ultra Running Coaching Sydney

I coach runners at every level. The goal is always the same.

I work with all kinds of athletes — complete beginners who've never run a race, experienced runners who keep hitting the same walls, and everyone in between. Based in Sydney and coaching athletes across Australia and worldwide, I build training plans that fit around real lives and real schedules.

Some come to me saying: "I've never done anything like this before, but I want to finish a 50km." Others say: "I always fade in the second half." Or: "I keep getting injured at the worst time." Or: "I know I can do more, I just don't know how to train for it properly."

Wherever you're starting from, the answer is the same: a clear plan, consistent work, and the patience to build something that lasts. That's what I'm here for.

01

A plan that fits your actual life

Not a generic template. Your training is built around your schedule, your history, and your goal race — then delivered weekly through TrainingPeaks with a Loom video walkthrough so you know exactly what you're doing and why.

02

Race planning that removes the guesswork

Pacing strategy, nutrition timing, crew and pacer briefings, contingency plans. We work through every scenario before race day so you're not making decisions under pressure at kilometre 80.

03

Consistent support between races

Regular check-in calls, direct messaging, and coach feedback on your sessions. When something's not working, we adjust. You're not left to figure it out on your own.

Coaching Philosophy

How I think about training.

Fitness is rarely the problem.

Most athletes fail in long races because of poor pacing, poor fuelling, and emotional decisions — not lack of fitness. My coaching prepares athletes to execute, not just to train.

Mindset is a practical skill.

Breathing, staying present, managing effort under fatigue — these are trainable skills. Athletes who stay calm and in control late in a race make better decisions and perform better.

Durability beats volume.

More training is not always better. The athletes who improve consistently are the ones who stay healthy, recover well, and show up week after week — not the ones who do the most.

The Programme

More than a training plan.

Strength training, mobility work, nutrition guidance, mindset support, and detailed race planning — all built into a single, coherent programme. The goal is not just to get you to the finish line. It is to get you there feeling like you trained for it.

Athlete Feedback

What athletes say.

"I came to Josh having run a few ultras but never really knowing what I was doing. Within a few months the structure and planning completely changed how I approached training and racing. I finished UTA 100km feeling strong and in control — something I had never experienced before."

Cameron Gray

UTA 100km Finisher

"Josh got me to my first 100 miler. The training blocks were tough but always made sense, and the race planning was incredibly detailed. I knew exactly what I was doing at every point in the race. I could not have done it without his support."

Craig Wilson

First 100 Mile Finisher

"Quote coming soon."
